An interview with Sergio Somaschini, Export Manager at Progea

Our company and activities in the Middle East

Progea is an international company, known as one of the leading players in automation software products, such as SCADA/HMI software, Connectivity software and I/O Gateway, data collection and process data analysis for productive and energy efficiency.

Progea is present in any automation sector, in manufacturing, in process control, in the infrastructures and in the building automation. We’re present all over the world with subsidiaries in Switzerland, Germany and USA.  Moreover, Progea products are distributed and supported by an international network of distributors in more than 40 countries.

We have several partners in the Middle East. In particular in the UAE, where we have a solid partnership with Quadra Electronics who not only resell our software products but also provide full support to customers to develop the applications.

Why SPS Automation Middle East

According to the actual trends, the market foresees an increase of automation activities in the Middle East and Progea’s task is to enter this market and show and present Movicon SCADA solutions.

Another reason that led Progea to attend this event is its philosophy of innovation. We strongly believe that thanks to Vision 2030, the Middle East will become one of the most dynamic market in the automation world in the next few years. Progea would like to offer to the market its products and find new business opportunities for the future events that will happen in the region, such as for example the Expo 2020 in Dubai and the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

During the event we’ll present the new release of Movicon.NExT 3.4, with additional features such as notifications by Telegram application, new functionalities in Pro.Energy wizard module to manage energetic consumption dashboards and new Bacnet gateway driver.

Who do we hope to meet?

During this event we hope to meet new business opportunities and potential partners such as OEMs, System Integrators, and infrastructure manufacturers with whom we would like to establish commercial relationships

On IIoT, AI, Industry 4.0

These issues are absolutely game-changers and concrete in the automation world. Consequently, with the arrival of the automation market also in the Middle East, we’re sure that these subjects will have to be discussed and faced to deeply understand the meaning and apply them in the industry

Key opportunities in the region

We think that we could find key opportunities in several industries, in particular in Building Automation, infrastructure, Water Treatment, Solar and Energy, thanks also to the fact that our products are certified by ADCO (Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Petroleum Operations).

Automation in the UAE and wider region

Thanks to the forward-looking concept of Vision 2030, that plans to reduce the Middle East’s dependence on oil, the region will diversify its economy, develop public service sectors such as industry and infrastructure. This will give suppliers of the automation market, such as Progea, the opportunity to enter this market providing products, consulting and services necessary to support this new market vision.

Some of our Middle East projects

In the last year, we’ve developed an application installed in Dubai office buildings. Our application allows the personnel of the building to control and manage lights, electricity, energy efficiency, and theHVAC system.
